1. Who we are

Crankit ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website crankit.ca, a free Google Business Profile audit tool for Canadian small businesses. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

2. Information we collect

We collect the following information:

Business information: When you search, we retrieve your business's public Google Business Profile data (business name, address, phone, website, photos, reviews) via the Google Places API. This data is already publicly available on Google.
Email address: Only if you voluntarily submit it to receive your GBP action plan.
Usage data: We collect anonymised analytics data (pages visited, audit completions) to improve the tool. No personally identifiable information is attached to this data.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

Generate and deliver your Google Business Profile audit score and action plan
Send you the requested report or action plan to the email address you provide
Send occasional updates about your GBP performance or Crankit services (you can unsubscribe at any time)
Improve the accuracy and functionality of the audit tool

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Data storage

Audit results are cached in our database (Supabase, hosted on AWS infrastructure) to improve performance. Cached audit data expires automatically. Email addresses submitted through our forms are stored securely and used only for the purposes described in Section 3.

5. Cookies and tracking

We may use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymised usage data. This helps us understand how the tool is used and improve it. GA4 data is processed in accordance with Google's privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Your rights under PIPEDA

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

Know what personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Withdraw consent for the use of your personal information
Request deletion of your personal information
